Manifesto

The ledger is the oldest software we ever wrote.

For five centuries, double-entry bookkeeping has been the quiet grammar of European commerce, from the merchant houses of Venice to the audited accounts every company files today. Long before we wrote poetry, we wrote down what we owed and what we were owed. The books are how business understands itself.

And yet the work of keeping them has barely changed. Someone still keys in each invoice, codes each entry, chases each late payment, and grinds through the month-end close, one line at a time. Accounting software was built to store the numbers; it was never built to do the work. So the work stayed manual, and it stayed on people: people who are getting scarcer, more expensive, and more stretched as the rules multiply.

We think that era is ending.

For the first time, software can do the work, not just record it: read an invoice, understand the accounting, and propose the entry. Across Europe, the back office is going digital. And the legacy systems that have run finance for decades are aging out. Three forces, converging at once.

So we’re building Mimrix: the audit-ready AI finance team for European businesses. Not a chatbot bolted onto your ledger, and not another migration. It’s a guild of specialist agents that do the real work and hand every posting to you for approval. Every action logged. Every number traceable. Every move approved by you. We keep the human in charge, because the books are sacred.

We’re starting in Sweden, with one agent, on the books you already keep. And we’re growing the guild from there, toward a finance team that fades into the background and simply works, with every number ready to stand up to an audit.

Why now.

AI can finally do the work

Models can read a document, reason about the accounting, and propose the entry, not just answer questions.

Europe’s back office is going digital

E-invoicing and structured data (EN 16931, Peppol, ViDA) are making finance work automatable.

The old systems are aging out

Legacy ERPs are mid-replacement, and the profession is stretched thin.

Why we’re building this.

We’ve lived this: the manual close, the invoices keyed by hand, the ERP that stored everything and did none of the work. We started Mimrix because European businesses deserve a finance team that does the work and keeps them in control, and because the technology is finally good enough to build that honestly. We’re early, we’re hands-on, and we’re building it alongside our first design partners.
